CE
MEETING AUGUST 13, 2008
Present: Margie Sanders,
Mike Brewer, Kim Innis, Mike Pohl, and Bill Bretz
The Summer Project is
creating beautiful art that is being framed.
Funding for the Framing will be from the CE Restricted Fund.
The Budget was reviewed, and
it was agreed that due to the projected increases of CE programs that the budget
to support these new programs will be needed.
CE has proposed to increase its budget by $1100.
Bill & Margie report
that the mission was incredible and inspiring.
The trip to
It was suggested to get
pictures of the mission onto the Website.
Kim & Pastor Mike report
that VBS was great fun and a great success. 11 youth and 15 adults enjoyed the
crafts, songs, bible studies and the wonderful performance of Nick & Cooper
(aka Kim & David Innis). Rachel
Cox helped with music and Debbie Ostendorf created the wonderful crafts she is
known for. Rebecca Miller from God
Squad also helped with music and the little ones.
Kim has agreed to head up
VBS for 2009. Recommendations for
next year include starting our planning for VBS in January or February of 2009.
It was also recommended to reach out to 1st Step and to expand
the program to include the young adults. In an effort to reach out into the
community, it also suggested to advertise in the paper, and to advertise with
signs and banners out side the church.
Sunday School will have its
Kick Off, September 7th. The
Teachers will be introduced and commissioned in worship that day.
Kim has agreed to inform worship of this date. Kim will be asking our
resident photographers to take the students pictures for the Kick Off.
The 2008 Sunday School and
Adult Bible study will continue with the same schedule.
The Ad Hoc committee has met and will have a new schedule and new classes
for 2009.
Teachers are still needed.
The middle school age needs 2 teachers, and a supporting teacher for the
other 3 lower classes is needed. The
Young Adult classes will need more teachers as they are expanding into 2 classes
and Bill Bretz will be concentrating his efforts on God Squad this year.
Family Fun nights are back.
Tresha Lewis is very excited about the program and has great ideas.
Tentetive dates are:
October 26th
with a Halloween theme. Amy
Sanders has agreed to lead the Bible Study.
November 23rd for
Advent and Christmas decorating
A possible December date of
December 6th for a “Parents Shopping Time”. It is the God Squad Cooking
Baking day, and can combine a few hours in Afternoon of Family Fun with kids
while their Parents do
January 4th, is
12th Night with the famous Ostendorf Pizza and Game night.
Bill suggested Dec. 21st
for the Christmas Performances and will co-ordinate with Marylyn.
The meeting ended with a
review of the time and talents sheets. The
expanding CE programs will require more time and talent.

and adults lives with the word of God.
