HOLY HUMOR SUNDAY

A kazoo choir?

Open mic joke time at the Sunday morning service?

Bubbling laughter among staid Presbyterians?

What’s going on around here? A joyful celebration of the resurrection!

On Easter morning, Jesus had the last laugh on death, sin and the power of the devil, and Christians should join in the laughter. Borrowing an old idea from the Orthodox Church, BAPC designated the Sunday after Easter as Holy Humor Sunday. We sang some funny songs, told some rib-tickling stories, and turned the choir loose to be as zany as they wished. The result was a wonderful service filled with joy and celebration.

We know God invented laughter and that joy is the surest sign that the Holy Spirit is present. If you were with us on Holy Humor Sunday, you will probably agree. If you weren’t there, we’ll look for you next year!
